Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer
Reviewed by: Steve Heady

System: Nintendo 64
Type of game: Racing

First of all, Id like to say that Star Wars: Episode 1 was a disappointment. But was the game? It all depends on what type of gaming fan you are. Star Wars Racer combines fast speed with a wide selection of courses to make for a game that can keep you on your toes for some time. With all of the course and car selection, I found myself playing the game for a while.

But this really is a simple game. You can go into a tournament, or have a regular race. Theres really not much gaming variety once youve picked the car and course. And the track layouts are really hard to follow especially if you are on fast. I have the expansion pack, yet I still found some of the turns very hard to follow. This game definatley does not lack detail.

There are some shortcuts on each track too. So there are always new secrets to learn. But as a whole, I found the game lacking motivation to play on. The cars wreck too easily and most of the tracks are just turning and hitting the gas. This game was just a regular typical racing game. I guess you can compare it to a F-Zero X. A good game, but nothing to go crazy about.

Gameplay:-7- An average racing game.
Graphics:-8.5- With the expansion pack, they really look nice.
Presentation:-6- Too many menus to go through and hard to follow courses.
Lasting Appeal:-6- I would not play this game after a week or so.
Overall:-7- A good game, but not too good.
